The One Light Institute offered workshops on prenatal education to the people living in the grass roots in small villages and community. We chose Bagan Bari of Shariatpur (a district of Bangladesh) because of the genuine interest expressed by the local community and by our big success of the first workshop in Goshaier Hut village of the same district. Sharmin Ahmad conducted the all day workshop based on her first published book, “The Rainbow in a Heart.” This interactive and highly participatory workshop used a variety of teaching tools including face to face questions and answers, team work, art work (by each participant) poetry, deep breathing and meditation to raise awareness about the significance of prenatal education and leading a healthy life style even before conception. The workshop addressed the importance of spending time in nature, reading, art and meditation for healthy living and healthy birth and development of children. 40 participants, men and women were informed and educated about critical prenatal and maternal health (physical and mental). The participants wrote excellent evaluations and requested more workshops of this nature.
